Today, 29 September, will take place the European Researchers’ Night (ERN) will take place. It is a Science celebration, where scientists from all over the country meet citizens to share with them the research they develop and its importance for society. The event will take place in four cities – Lisbon, Braga, Coimbra and Évora – and also online. There will be more than 200 on-site activities and as many online, which will include conversations with scientists, experimental and hands-on activities, games and demonstrations, among many others.

Terá ainda a oportunidade de entender de que forma estes métodos computacionais podem ser decisivos no desenvolvimento de fármacos para o tratamento daquelas doenças.
Description | Did you know that it is possible to represent, through molecular visualization methods, DNA, RNA and proteins and relate their structure to the functions they perform in the cell? Come and get to know these “molecules of life” and discover how small changes in their structure and function – mutations – are at the basis of certain diseases such as cancer. You will also have the opportunity to understand how these computational methods can be decisive in the development of drugs for the treatment of those diseases.

Esta é uma doença hereditária comum, que se caracteriza por níveis elevados de colesterol total e colesterol LDL desde o nascimento, aumentando o risco de desenvolvimento de doença cardiovascular prematura e é sub-diagnosticada por falta de identificação clínica. Conheça os riscos e causas desta doença através da realização de três diferentes atividades: medição de colesterol em sangue capilar (picada no dedo); construção/montagem de um puzzle sobre o ciclo do colesterol e um pequeno vídeo sobre a hipercolesterolemia familiar.
Description | Have you ever heard about Familial Hypercholesterolemia? This is a common inherited disease, which is characterized by high levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol from birth, increasing the risk of developing premature cardiovascular disease and is under-diagnosed for lack of clinical identification. Get to know the risks and causes of this disease by performing three different activities: measuring cholesterol in capillary blood (finger prick); construction/assembly of a puzzle about the cholesterol cycle and a short video about familial hypercholesterolemia.

In this conversation between representatives of various institutions / entities in the sectors of Health, Culture, Academy and Municipalities you will be able to hear personal testimonies of the importance of art in promoting inclusion and well-being and you will have the opportunity to clarify doubts and discover concepts such as “health in all policies”, “social prescription” and “positive health”. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a musical performance that will precede the activity.
